Welcome to the Castlegar Nordic Ski Club

NOTICETRAIL GROOMING & TRACK-SETTING OPERATIONS ARE SUSPENDED FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE CURRENT SKI SEASON

Following a tragic fatality on our ski trail network on February 10th, 2017, by order from WorkSafeBC, the Castlegar Nordic Ski Club was required to suspend grooming and track-setting operations on all of our trails until hazard assessments and tree removal treatments could be completed.  After considering all of our options and the many factors involved (e.g., logistics of trail work at this time of year, safety of workers, lateness of the season, snow conditions, Club capacity, costs and other factors) the Executive of the Castlegar Nordic Ski Club has reluctantly made the decision to cease operations for the remainder of this ski season.  We ask for your understanding and we look forward to providing our members and many visitors with our usual high quality trail experience during the 2017/2018 season.

In the meantime, our good friends at the Black Jack Ski Club and at the Nelson Nordic Ski Club have been continuing to allow our members to ski at their trails for free.  We greatly appreciate this very kind and generous gesture.  Please ensure you bring your membership badge if you visit either of these two excellent clubs.  Thank you.

The Castlegar Nordic Ski Club has been providing well maintained cross country ski trails in the Paulson Recreation Area for the last 50 years.

With 45 km of packed and tracked ski trails ranging from beginner to advanced levels, the club hosts over 10,000 user-days every season.  There are trails for everyone, including a popular 7.5 km circular route from Mud Lake to the Ben Shaw cabin that is ideal for young families and beginners, as well as numerous longer, more challenging loop trails for intermediate and expert skiers.  Several kilometres of untracked trails are available for the more advanced backcountry skier.  Our trails are mainly tracked for classic style skiing but some opportunities exist on the wider trails for skate skiing as well.

Since becoming a registered non-profit Society in 1990, club membership has grown to about 800 members, including individuals from Castlegar, Trail,  Rossland, Nelson, Grand Forks, Christina Lake, the Slocan Valley and Washington State.

Our trails are located about 32 km west of Castlegar on Highway 3, just west of the junction of Highways 3 and 3B near Nancy Greene Lake.  Click here to download a General Location Map.

Our ski season usually starts by mid November and extends until mid to late March.  We offer full season memberships as well as day-passes at very affordable, family-friendly rates.  See our Membership page for fee rates and registration information.

Use Of Groomed Trails:  Our trail network is not designed for snowshoeing and currently there are no established snowshoe trails.  If snowshoeing within our trail network area we request that visitors stay off the groomed trails, travel adjacent to track-set trails and that trail crossings be infrequent and avoid disturbing the tracks set for classic and skate skiing.

If you happen to use our cabins or other facilities we would appreciate a donation towards their maintenance.

Please note that dogs are not allowed within the ski area.
