Trails & Maps
The Paulson Cross Country Ski Trails are managed and maintained by the Castlegar Nordic Ski Club and include over 60 kilometres of diverse, interconnected trails with opportunities for skiers at all levels, from young families and beginners to intermediate and advanced levels. The majority of the trail network is groomed and tracked for classic style skiing but there are some designated trails with skate lanes and many of the wider trails also have a centre packed skate ski lane. Our Viking Centre and four modern warming huts offer the opportunity for a variety of adventures from a short hour-long ski to a full day outing. Trails wind through a mosaic of mixed coniferous forests and openings with a diversity of spectacular views. With an elevation range of 1300 to 1500 metres, this recreation area provides a long ski season with excellent snow conditions and a predominance of sunny days. The Paulson recreation area is located about 32 km west of Castlegar on Highway 3, just west of the junction of Highways 3 and 3B at Nancy Greene Lake.
For skiers interested in more rugged backcountry trails, the Friends of Bonanza Pass have developed an ungroomed trail network just west of the Paulson Trails. Click here for more information
