Club Executive Opportunities

We are in need of Executive support and are looking to fill the positions for Secretary, Directors at Large, and other volunteers to continue the extraordinary facilities that we have.  Please see the details below and consider volunteering.  Thank you!

The Castlegar Nordic Ski Club is a volunteer-run non-profit organization that focusses on providing affordable access to an exceptional recreational skiing experience in an amazing natural setting for individuals and families of all ability levels.  The club is always looking for individuals with energy and ideas to join our volunteer Executive team or contribute in other volunteer roles.

Members of the Executive attend approximately 6 meetings per year, as well as an annual general meeting (AGM) of the membership, and have an equal vote in all Executive decisions.  Officers and Directors contribute their ideas and time to club initiatives, projects, and an individualized ‘portfolio’ of responsibilities to continuously improve the club’s operations and infrastructure for the enjoyment of all our members and visitors.  The Club Executive members are unpaid volunteers, however a free annual family membership pass is provided by the Club as appreciation and recognition.

We are currently looking for new team members for the following roles:

Secretary

The Club Secretary records Executive and AGM meeting minutes and action items, manages the Club’s email and written correspondence, and maintains the Club’s records, forms, and various documents, ensuring secure document control.  Other duties include responding to, or directing, inquiries from Club members and the public, sending all-member email notices, writing and submitting advertisements, organizing meetings, and booking facilities.  Experience with office software and applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Gmail, Adobe, Dropbox, etc.) is an asset.

Directors at Large

The Club’s Directors and Officers together form a “working Executive” meaning that, in addition to constitutional duties, contributing input, and participating in decision-making, Executive members assume a “portfolio” of duties or areas of responsibility (e.g., planning, HR, trails & infrastructure, grooming, fee collection, safety, youth programs, promotion & fund raising, event coordination, work parties, projects, etc.) tailored to their interest and skill sets.  Within these portfolios, and in consultation with the broader Executive, Directors are empowered to make decisions and manage their assigned areas of Club business.

Volunteer Specialists

If you are unable to commit to a full Executive role but have a skill set or expertise applicable to a non-profit organization or cross-country ski club and would be willing to volunteer on a part time or “as needed” basis, we would be interested to hear from you.  Examples of specialist roles that volunteers might assistance with include: marketing, promotion, fund raising, user surveys, data support and analysis, facilities and trail maintenance, certified tree fallers, project volunteers, and others.
